Alishan Cafe Charity Event
| May 14, 2011 |
On May 14th (sat) from 2 pm there will be a discussion on nuclear power in Japan. Numbers are limited so call to ensure your place! The discussion will be lead by Mukai Kouichiro, a visiting lecturer at Wako University, specializing in alternative energy. During the course of the discussion he will outline the basic theory of nuclear power and discuss why it is difficult to move away from this type of energy, as well as highlighting the alternatives and discussing their implementation.
Later in the evening, from 6pm Danny Katz will be playing live music out on the deck. When approached to ask if he would play he wrote us this reply:
“I’m motivated to volunteer my time for Tohoku-related fundraising shows because what’s happened there is simply heartbreaking, and I feel that raising needed funds with my music is the least I can do. Especially in times like this, art can bring people together as a community, and allow for collective healing. We then go and continue living our lives to the fullest. I hope those attending the Alishan concert are able to rest assured that even thought they were relaxing for a brief moment, they’re also contributing towards a worthy cause.”
Please come and join us for an afternoon of information and relaxation, and at the same time, raise money for those in Tohoku, so desperately in need.
